Complaints and Appeals

Complaints and Appeals

The Magazine of Geodesy – Cartography is committed to handling complaints and appeals fairly, transparently, and confidentially.

1. Complaints

Authors, reviewers, readers, and other stakeholders may submit complaints concerning the journal's editorial, peer-review, publication, or ethical processes.

Complaints should be submitted to the Editorial Office using the official contact information provided on the journal website. The complaint should include sufficient information to allow the journal to understand and investigate the matter.

The journal will acknowledge and investigate complaints in a timely and impartial manner. Complaints will be handled confidentially whenever possible.

Complaints concerning publication ethics, research misconduct, authorship, plagiarism, conflicts of interest, or other integrity issues will be investigated in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and Research Integrity Policy.

2. Appeals against Editorial Decisions

Authors may appeal an editorial decision when they believe that the decision resulted from a significant error in the evaluation process, a misunderstanding of the manuscript, or an inappropriate application of the journal's editorial policies.

An appeal must provide clear and specific reasons and, where appropriate, supporting information.

Appeals should normally be submitted by the corresponding author.

An appeal will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or another designated senior editor who was not directly involved in the original decision, whenever possible.

The journal may request additional information from the authors or reviewers when necessary.

The outcome of an appeal will be communicated to the corresponding author. The decision following an appeal is normally final.

3. Protection from Retaliation

The journal will not tolerate retaliation against any person who raises a complaint or reports a genuine concern in good faith.

The journal will seek to protect the confidentiality and privacy of individuals involved in complaints and appeals to the extent reasonably possible.
